About Department

The word COMMERCE is used since mid16th Centurywhich is combination of two LATIN wordsCOM i.e. together+MERCIUM i.e. trade (which meaning is mutual exchange of goods and services for mutual benefit). The role of commerce is to determine the reasonable value of everything and exchange of those resources in optimum manner with effective communication for social benefit. Commerce is developed from the mutual transactions of BARTER(Exchange of goods against goods or services) system in ancient time before invention of currency. Evolution of the concept ofEconomics, Finance, Accounting, Administration, Management and Marketing, etc. has changed the face of Commerce immensely.

Everyone in this world these days is trying to know the reasonable economic value of its products(Commodities or Services) so that any person can evaluate or develop its value of life for society. Commerce have the scope to make everything valuable Reasonably,Economically, Socially and Spiritually.

Commerce Department established at S.K.C.G College in the year 1977, later UG and PG courses introduced to make the Commerce education more applicable in this region. Now a days P.G. Department of Commerce has its own identity for large number of students and their achievements in S.K.C.G. Autonomous College for last few years.
