About The Department
The Department of Computer Science was established in 2003 as a self-financing department, initially offering Computer Application as a Pass/Minor Elective at the undergraduate level. In 2012, the department introduced an Honours programme, B.Sc. in Computer Science, with an intake of 16 seats, approved by and affiliated to Berhampur University.
In the 2023-24 academic session, the department added a postgraduate programme, M.Sc. in Computer Science, with an intake of 16 seats. In the same session, the undergraduate intake was increased by 16 seats, bringing the total to 32. Both expansions were approved by and affiliated to Berhampur University.
All self-financing courses are conducted in accordance with the rules and guidelines laid down by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Department of Higher Education (DHE), Government of Odisha. The undergraduate programme follows the NEP-2020 syllabus approved by DHE, Government of Odisha, and is managed by a committee comprising the Principal, the Course Coordinator, the Deputy Course Coordinator, the Head of the Department, and three teaching faculty members.
Admissions to the B.Sc. (Major) and M.Sc. programmes in Computer Science are conducted online through the Student Academic Management System (SAMS), administered by DHE, Government of Odisha, in the same manner as other regular courses of the college.

To be a centre of excellence in Computer Science education, fostering computational thinking, technical competence, and innovative problem-solving among students, and enabling them to engage meaningfully with emerging technologies and their applications in society.

- To provide quality undergraduate and postgraduate education in Computer Science that builds a strong foundation in programming, algorithms, data structures, and computing systems.
- To cultivate analytical and logical reasoning skills that enable students to design, develop, and evaluate computational solutions to real-world problems.
- To encourage independent thinking and the ability to explore, experiment, and adapt to rapidly evolving technologies and tools.
- To develop practical proficiency through hands-on laboratory work, projects, and application-oriented learning.
- To nurture awareness of ethical, social, and professional responsibilities in the use and development of technology.
- To prepare students for higher studies, research, competitive examinations, and careers in software development, information technology, and allied fields.
- To create a student-centric learning environment that encourages continuous learning, collaboration, and close engagement between faculty and students.
